In Florida, a Notary Public or an ordained minister may officiate marriages. I have both qualifications. I have been a Florida Notary Public since July 2013 and an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church since August 2015.  Please refer to Florida Statute 741.07 for others authorized to solemnize marriages.  

Only the wedding couple can obtain their marriage license.  To be married in Florida, a Florida marriage license must be obtained prior to the wedding. Marriage licenses are issued by all Florida Counties and you can apply for your license at any County Clerk of the Court Office. You may get married in any county in Florida, regardless of where you obtained your marriage license. To obtain a marriage license you need present the proper identification and remit the appropriate state fees.
